Amazon's Price-Checking Promotion Contributes to Short-term Consumer Welfare. But Is It Good in the Long Run?

We love Amazon.com's "Frustration-free Packaging," but its holiday price-checking promotion wasn't so "positive."
As reported by Bloomberg.com:
"Amazon.com Inc. should end its price-checking promotion because it gives consumers an incentive to gather price data from small retailers and leave stores without spending money, said Senator Olympia Snowe."
