Conference for Positive Marketing Co-Chair, Professor Beth Vallen, is the winner of an Emerging Scholar Award from a specialty working group within the American Marketing Association.

Marketing professor Beth Vallen is the winner of an Emerging Scholar Award from a specialty working group within theAmerican Marketing Association. She will be recognized at the AMA’s Summer Educator’s Conference in Boston this August.

The AMA group, called the Marketing and Society Special Interest Group, is remarkably well aligned in purpose with Fordham’s Center for Positive Marketing. The group’s online statement says: “We believe that marketing holds substantial potential for improving the lives of a society’s members, and seek to study means of achieving such goals.”

This is only the second year that the Marketing and Society group has given out an Emerging Scholar Award. Professor Vallen was chosen by a three-person committee chaired by a Villanova professor.

“This is a well-deserved recognition of the quality and impact of your research to date, and an expression of interest and support for your continuing contributions to our field of knowledge,” William L. Wilkie, Ph.D., the Nathe Professor of Marketing at Notre Dame, wrote in an e-mail to Professor Vallen announcing her selection.

Donna Rapaccioli, dean of the business faculty, congratulated Professor Vallen on her achievement, and the news brought warm support from across the marketing area.

Dawn Lerman, the marketing area chair, echoed Dr. Wilkie in calling it a “very impressive and well-deserved honor.”
